How launch weeks work on Indie Torch
One week, a capped number of slots and a single ranked list. Here is exactly how a launch week runs, from submitting to the final vote.
Indie Torch is built around one idea: the week is the unit. Every product launches in its own week, competes in one list, and the week ends. This post explains how that works, so you know what to expect before you submit.
The week
A launch week runs from Monday 00:00 UTC to Sunday 23:59:59 UTC. Every time on the site is UTC, so there is no guessing which day your week starts in your own time zone.
Each week has one leaderboard. Products are ranked by votes. If two products have the same number of votes, the one that was approved first ranks higher.
Slots are limited
Each week has a fixed number of slots, 20 by default. A small list means every product gets seen, instead of scrolling past hundreds.
When you submit, you pick from the next six upcoming weeks, and each week shows how many slots are left. Products that are still waiting for review count towards the cap too, so a week can fill up before anything has gone live. If your week is full, pick another one.
From submit to live
- Sign in with Google or an emailed link. There are no passwords.
- Submit your product with a name, a one-line tagline, a description, a logo, up to four screenshots and a launch week.
- We review it. Every submission is checked by a person before it goes live. You get an email when it is approved, or a reason if it is not.
- You can edit while it is pending. Fix a typo or swap a screenshot from your dashboard until it has been reviewed.
- Your week starts. Your product appears on the home page leaderboard and voting opens.
How voting works
Voting is open only during your product’s own launch week. Once the week ends, the votes are final and the product keeps its page and its result.
Anyone can vote without creating an account. Each browser gets one vote per product, and there are limits to slow down abuse. If you are signed in as a maker, you cannot vote for your own product.
What it costs
Launching is free, and so is voting.
