Questions
What changed in DR4?
Subdomains now get their own rating instead of taking the rating of the main domain. For example, microsoft.com and blogs.microsoft.com are scored separately. The scale is still 0 to 100.
Why did my score drop?
Domain Rating measures the strength of your backlink profile compared with other sites in Ahrefs' database. It says nothing about your content, design or audience, so a drop does not mean you did something wrong.
Can I check a subdomain?
Yes. Enter it in full, like blog.example.com. A page address works too: we use the domain part.
Are my searches saved?
We save the domain and its DR3 and DR4 scores so we can show recent checks. We do not save who checked it. Results are also cached for a few hours to keep the tool fast.
